WINDOW CLEANER FALLS OFF TO DEATH AT BIZSPACE INVESTMENTS BUILDING

Bizspace Investments Ltd has come under the scanner big tine after being involved in one falling incident after the other. There have been multiple incidences of people falling off from the fragile skylight of a unit at the Craven Court industrial estate at Winwick Quay.

The building is owned by Bizspace. The matter was met with a lot of public ire and media glare none the less. It was During a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prosecution that the Warrington Crown Court got to know of the death of a caretaker from Accrington. He was in turn an employee of Bizspace Investments Ltd. The man was cleaning the guttering when he met with his tragic fate and fell to death literally. He died a painfully as later it was revealed that the man had to deal with multiple rib fractures and severe bruising.

The unfortunate incident had taken place on the 20th of March back in 2007. Later on another Bizspace employee who was at the site to get the photographs of the scene almost was involved in a repeated scenario where in he too almost lost his life buy falling from a different skylight.

Luckily, this time round after first falling on a mezzanine floor, he eventually lived to tell the tale. The man although did not receive any injury but was equally shocked none the less. He escaped injury. But then this was not to be the end of the freaky accident taking at the place. For in only a matter of few more weeks when an elderly man of sixty two years was repairing the skylights when he fell too. The man did not die but wasn’t left without injury as well.

He became paralyzed below waist. He was sent from the Massey Roofing & Building Contractors.
Bizspace and Massey Roofing & Building Contractors were both brought to law by the HSE. They were charged with putting workers’ lives in danger. Bizspace Investments Ltd was fined £5,000 and pay £9,000. Anthony Massey, from Massey Roofing & Building Contractors was left without being fined as he pleaded guilty and declared himself bankrupt. He was told if he doesn’t commit an offence in the next 12 months he won’t be fined.

  4. I think everything and particularly cleaning of any important things to be done by its expert! I do agree that there are many things that we can try for but where is the risk of life or any injuries we shouldn't try for that.
